Osas Ighodaro was born Osariemen Martha Elizabeth Ighodaro on October 26, 1990, in Bronx, New York, United States to Nigerian parents from Edo State. 

She is an indigene of Edo State, South-South Nigeria, just like Adesua Etomi, Mercy Aigbe, and Waje. She grew up in the United States and has an older sister who died of malaria. Her mother Patricia Imuetinyan Ighodaro also passed away in November 2020. Her father Mr Ighodaro is a middle-class Edo man who resided with his family in the United States. Osas do give credits to her parents, most especially her father’s impact in her rise to fame in the entertainment industry.

She attended Pennsylvania State University where she obtained her first degree in broadcasting journalism with dual minors in entrepreneurship and theater. She obtained her master’s degree in fine arts from the Actors Studio Drama School at Pace University.

Career

Osas began her career as a model where she won the Miss Black USA 2010.

She moved to Nigerian in 2012 and got numerous acting roles. She became known for her role as Adanna in the soap opera, Tinsel. She joined MTV Shuga for series four in October 2019.

She has starred in movies such as Cadillac Records, Jewslim, The Tested, Computer Love, Gbomo Gbomo Express, The Department, Put a Ring on It, Merry Men: The Real Yoruba Demons, Double Strings, Namaste Wahala, Single Not Searching, The Ghost and the Tout Too, and so on.

She has also featured on television shows such as Conviction, Law & Order, Meet the Browns, Parallels, The Smart Money Woman, King of Boys: The Return of the King and so on.

She hosted the Maltina Dance All Reality show and co-hosted the 2014 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards

She is the founder of the Joyful Joy foundation, which is meant for raising funds and creating awareness for the fight against malaria.

Personal Life

Osas Ighodaro got married to Gbenro Ajibade, a Nigerian actor in June 2015 and they divorced in 2019. They welcomed their first child together in 2016.
